Freed to Kill is a journalist's account of an actual serial murder investigation and the conviction of Larry W. Eyler for the 1984 murder of Daniel Bridges in Chicago, Illinois. The events recounted in this book are true, although some of the names have been changed. The scenes and dialogue have been reconstructed based on tape-recorded formal interviews, police department records, and published news stories. Quoted court testimony has been taken from trial transcripts and is verbatim.
